The Mounds Park Tree Trek was founded to offer a new recreational opportunity in the Dayton’s Bluff area. The trek will go within and around Indian Mounds Park.
The originator of the project, Steve Trimble, saw an opportunity for education and recreation in the trees already present in the park.
The project’s mission is to facilitate and engage by offering a new, recreational, and educational opportunity.
The tree trek trail is within the Indian Mounds Park. Along the trail, there are various tree species designated with signage that describes the tree. These signs also have Q.R. codes that will link to a web site that offers a more in depth description of the trees. It is the hope of the project that the tree trek will offer enjoyment for many years to come.
The implementation of the project was done in cooperation with the Dayton’s Bluff Community Council, The City of Saint Paul’s Forestry Department, and The University of Minnesota’s Department of Forest Resources - Urban and Community Forestry Outreach. 2014.
